"I don't blow up no man's phone. Now, did I call? For sure," he told the Numbers on the Board podcast. "I mean I didn't know at first if it was
possible. I don't know if he was a free agent two years ago or last year [two years ago], and you know we work out in the morning. So I texted Rich [Paul],'Man, give me LeBron's number, I'm about to mess with him real quick.' Just on some funny stuff. I hit him like, 'Yo, you're always welcome to come to Philly' before he re-signed with the Lakers. We always knew he was going back to the Lakers. I'm just messing with him. And then this time, Paul was like,'Look, I don't know what he's going to do. He doesn't know what he's going to do, so holler at him.' So I hit him, I'm like, 'Yo, pull up, I think we got a good chance. I feel like you can help us. You're arguably, if not thegreatest of all-time so it's like why wouldn't we want you on our team?' Just gave him the rundown on that. And I probably talked to him at least three times, three or four times."

「所以我就傳給他說：『Yo，隨時都歡迎你來費城。』那是在他跟湖人續約之前。其實我們一直都知道他最後會回湖人，我就只是鬧他而已。」
「但這一次，Rich Paul 跟我說：『你看，我不知道他最後會怎麼決定，他自己也不知道，所以你直接去找他聊。』」
「所以我就聯絡 LeBron，跟他說：『Yo，過來吧。我覺得我們真的很有機會。我覺得你可以幫助我們。你可以說是史上最偉大的球員，就算不是，也絕對是最偉大的球員之一，那我們有什麼理由不想要你來我們球隊？』」
「大概就是把我們這邊的情況跟他講了一遍。我至少跟他聊了三次吧，大概三、四次」
