關於Balogun事件的UEFA聲明
Yesterday’s decision to suspend for a probationary period of a year the impleme ntation of the one-match automatic suspension followin the red card issued to t he player Folarin Balogun crossed a red line.
昨天針對球員Folarin Balogun所領紅牌後應自動停賽一場的處分，卻決定暫緩執行，並設下一年的緩刑期，這項決定已經越過了不可接受的紅線
Football, like any other sports, relies on rules, which are the basis for fair, honest and transparent competition. Sometimes rules are open to interpretation. In this case not. A minimum automatic suspension of one match following a red ca rd is not a discretionary option and does not require the decision of a competen t body to be enacted. It is a principle embedded in regulations, which cannot be made subject to exceptions, let alone in the middle of a tournament where sever al other players have been in the same situation and regularly served their susp ension.
足球和所有運動一樣，都建立在規則之上，而規則正是公平、誠信與透明競爭的基礎，有些規則或許存在解釋空間，但這次並非如此，球員被紅牌罰下後，至少自動停賽一場並非可自行裁量的選項，也不需要任何主管機關另行決議才能生效，這是一項明文寫入規章的基本原則，不應有任何例外，更不應在賽事進行期間破例，尤其是在已有多名球員遭遇相同情況並依規定完成停賽的情況下
When the certainty of rules is no longer guaranteed by its guardians, the integr ity of the game is at stake and the credibility of a competition is undermined. Equally, such decision creates a precedent in the ongoing tournament, where simi lar situations will now require an equal treatment, to the detriment of the comp etition.
當規則的確定性無法再由其守護者加以保障時，比賽的公正性便受到威脅，賽事的公信力也將遭到削弱，同樣地這項決定也為正在進行的賽事開創了先例，未來所有類似情況都必須受到相同待遇，這將對整體賽事造成負面影響
Football is the most loved sport in the world because it is a beautiful game and is trusted because it is played everywhere with the same laws. A tournament is never a pure standalone and, if the tournament in question is the World Cup, it has the power to drive positive or negative consequences on the game as a whole.
